How to become a licensed home inspector in Montana
Effective January 1, 2026, every home inspector practicing in Montana must hold an individual license from the Montana Department of Labor and Industry.
Applicants must also provide official verification for professional licenses held in other states or jurisdictions, when applicable. The National Home Inspector Examination no longer substitutes for approved education, and the current checklist does not list a separate licensing examination.
