Just because your home is new don’t think your sewer is!

If you are buying a new home in the Seattle area, almost certainly there was a home on that lot before your house was built. What do you think is the most expensive part of the sewer to install? The part under the roadway is by far more complicated and therefore expensive. Understandably most contractors will save as much of the old sewer as possible. Unless you have it scoped you won’t know what you are buying.
On the right, you can see what happened when the electrician drove this ground rod. He probably had no idea that he punctured the sewer line. Unless you had this sewer line scoped you might never had known, until you moved in!
Above we have a video of a brand new home with a sewer line full of rocks! My clients were glad they checked this out before then closed on their new home.
The moral of the post is before you buy it, if it costs a LOT to repair, and you can’t see it at all you should have it checked with a camera.
